Why are mills so fascinating? Perhaps because every mill is a unique structure and no two are exactly alike.
During the assessment of a mill’s condition, original design features previously overlooked can often be revealed. It is essential that these features are properly recorded before the repairs to the mill begin. Paper records allow hidden features of your mill to be examined in detail - as well as aiding essential interpretation of the structure later on.
Our records can help to ‘make sense’ of your mill by:
- Indicating the position and role of each component in the structure
- Specifying the repair work required to each component
- Identifying those components which require replacement and specifying the materials required for their replication
The accompanying drawings are examples of records made by Bonwick M H C during programmes of mill repair.
