Surveying ancient mill sites

large product photo

Martlesham, Suffolk - 2003

More than 200 mill sites in the UK have been subjected to archaeological investigation, most commonly in the face of imminent redevelopment of these sites for other uses.

Archaeological appraisal of a site - in the form of trial trenching or, more simply, a watching brief - is often necessary and is increasingly becoming a legal requirement.

We use techniques such as geophysical survey to precisely locate structures beneath the soil.

Bonwick M H C can undertake the survey, excavation and recording of your mill site to satisfy local planning requirements.
